Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze is a prestigious grand cru vineyard at the northern end of the Côte d`Or. This Clos is one of the oldest in Burgundy, having been created by the Abbey of Bèze in the 7th century. Today the vineyard is home to several top producers including Armand Rousseau, who owns two parcels here. The red wines from 2006 have developed significantly since their first tasting immediately after bottling and are now an absolute delight
90 Vinous
Deep, bright red. Black raspberry, game and smoke on the nose. Fat and sweet on entry, then quite dry and backward in the middle, with a distinctly medicinal quality currently dominating the wine's underlying fruit. This boasts impressive volume but I'm troubled by its rather dry-edged tannins. Hard to taste today. I note that a year ago Eric Rousseau pointed out that the wine began its life quite disjointed.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2009
