Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Armand Rousseau unquestionably sits amongst the greats of Burgundy with a portfolio of wines from some of the most revered vineyards in the region. Cyrielle Rousseau is now assuming more control of day-to-day operations and is maintaining the incredible quality standards of her predecessors.

The 2018 vintage can only be described as an overwhelming success for the domaine. The entire Rousseau range is blessed with such effortless balance of endlessly complex fruit, texture, tension and vineyard expression. Probably the most intense and structural of all their wines, the Chambertin Grand Cru can expect to have at least a decade or more of cellaring potential.

The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very intense, brilliantly-defined bouquet with laser-like precision, incredibly focused and perfectly integrated oak. Less generous than Bichot`s Chambertin at the moment though - this is biding its time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, insistent grip and plenty of freshness. Maybe just a little more confit in style than others. Still, a fabulous Chambertin that gains clarity and precision in the glass. Effortless. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.Neal Martin22nd November 2022
