Domaine Armand Rousseau is Burgundy royalty and their wines are by far some of the most collectible in the world. The Chambertin is produced from four prime plots spanning 2.54ha of the prestigious Grand Cru. The 2006 is gorgeous in aroma with fresh red cherry, spice and roses. On the palate it is blessed with seamless levity, sublime perfume and a wonderfully complex mineral profile.

Good deep red. Wonderfully pure, complex nose offers black cherry, minerals, red licorice and flowers, with an almost liqueur-like sweetness. Less expressive in the mouth but silky and suave in texture and considerably sweeter than the Clos de Beze, with compelling density and intensity of flavor. The almost liqueur-like red fruit quality carries through on the palate. The wine's sappiness gives it a weightless quality. The longest of these 2006s by far, finishing with superb grip and energy. — Stephen Tanzer, 1st March 2009

Pale ruby. Exotic and gorgeous. Violets. Charming. Oak just a little obvious. Very very slightly disappointing. (JR) — Jancis Robinson, 14th April 2013
