Doisy Daene 2011 is a sweet white wine from Château Doisy-Daëne, a 2ème Cru Classé estate located in Barsac. The estate was founded in 1924 by the Lurton family. This subtly evolved wine displays a medley of stone fruits, including apricot and ripe pear, intertwined with hints of honeycomb and citrus zest. The palate unfolds with a pronounced vibrancy and a tactile minerality, revealing layers of flavour that echo the aromatic intensity. The finish is lengthy, emphasising the tight structure and elegance expected from a well-crafted Sauternes. This vintage is a testament to the meticulous winemaking of Denis Dubourdieu.

The 1998 Chambertin Grand Cru has a leafier bouquet than the 1996 compared alongside, undergrowth and cracked black pepper, hints of peppermint, even a touch of liquorice. It does not quite have the breeding of the aforementioned 1996. The palate is smooth on the entry, fleshy with moderate depth. Mellow, cohesive, lightly spiced, surprising richness on the finish yet without the pedigree of the finest vintages. Tasted at the Rousseau Chambertin vertical at La Vienne.Neal Martin21st June 2022

Dark, healthy crimson. Muddy, low key nose. Dark crimson – quite intense. Sweet and round at first but a bit tough. Obdurate. (JR)Jancis Robinson1st October 2007
