Founded in 1825, Billaud-Simon is one of the leading wine producers in Chablis, focused on Grand Cru and Premier Cru expressions. The estate covers approximately 17 hectares of vineyards and today is owned by Domaine Faiveley. This particular cuvée comes from the Grand Cru Vaudesir, which is shaped like an amphitheatre. Chablis 2002 is considered one of the finest vintages of the last 20 years and these wines are in a great stage now.
90 Vinous
Pale color. Reticent nose hints at lime, menthol and mint. Dense, juicy and aromatic on the palate, with enticing lemony cut. Mineral and floral flavors are still a bit tightly wound and youthfully aggressive, and there's a slight alcoholic warmth. Most impressive today in its very persistent finishing flavors of white flowers and powdered stone.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2004

Cask sample. Good green fruit aromas. Lively, dense, and cracking. (JR)Jancis Robinson28th January 2004
