Raveneau is arguably the finest wine producer in Chablis with a solid reputation across the globe. The Domaine was established by François Raveneau in 1948 and is currently run by cousins Isabelle and Maxime. Raveneau pioneered the use of Côte d`Or winemaking in Chablis, including barrel fermentation and extended lees contact. This release comes from Valmur, a Grand Cru vineyard where Raveneau owns a 0.75-hectare plot. Chablis 2006 turned out rich, fruity and relatively low in acidity, and the wines have enjoyed great commercial success.

Vinous
Pale yellow. Pure but reticent nose offers cooler notes of lemon, acacia flower and minerals; closed today but conveys much more lift than the Blanchots. Then tactile, intensely flavored and firmly structured, with a wonderfully light touch for such a concentrated wine. In its sheer definition of fruits, flowers and minerals, this transcends the vintage. Finishes vibrant and very long, with a rare floral intensity that is simultaneously subtle and palate-staining.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2008
