Raveneau Chablis 2014 is a medium-bodied Chardonnay white wine from the Chablis appellation of Burgundy. Domaine Raveneau is arguably the finest wine producer in Chablis with a solid reputation across the globe. The domaine was established by François Raveneau in 1948 and is currently run by cousins Isabelle and Maxime. Raveneau comprises eight hectares of land spread across three Grand Cru and six Premier Cru sites, and it only started producing a Village Chablis in 2007. Expect, cool, clear, mineral-driven Chablis in a classical mould.

The 2014 Chablis-Villages is pale silver in color. The bouquet seems to have mellowed since I last tasted it, offering enticing white peach, pressed flower and chai tea scents, though unsurprisingly given its status, it doesn`t provide riveting complexity. The palate is well balanced with impressive depth; again, no frills, just a Chablis that gets straight to the point. You could argue that it misses a little nerve on the finish, so I would drink up over the next 4–5 years. Tasted at Les Hostellerie des Clos in Chablis. - Neil Martin
