Domaine Raveneau Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 2010 is a Premier Cru Chablis from the lieu-dit of Montée de Tonnerre on the north bank of the Serein river. Raveneau is widely regarded as the finest producer in the Chablis region and this mature 1er Cru from the `classic` 2010 vintage is now in prime drinking condition, though will age gracefully for a further 10-20 years. Montée de Tonnerre is one of the iconic vineyards of Chablis . Set back slightly from the region’s Grands Crus, its moderate west-exposed slopes are protected from the east winds. This, combined with its base of shallow Kimmeridgian soil, intersected with veins of blue clay – a strikingly similar soil composition to that of its neighbouring Grands Crus – produces Chardonnay wines with the perfect combination of body, fruit and lively minerality.

Palish yellow-gold. Wonderfully vibrant aromas of citrus peel, white flowers and dusty stone, plus a sexy hint of truffle. Dense, juicy and extremely young yet already delicious owing to its silky texture. Great subtle complexity to its flavors of orange zest, anise and tactile saline minerality. The rising, sappy finish stains the palate and excites the taste buds with orange-y high tones. Utterly classic Chablis yet not particularly austere today. Really bulletproof fruit and grain here! Shows a slightly candied quality similar to the '14, but here it's more soft citrus than stone fruits. This was Isabelle Raveneau's wedding wine two years ago but it also has the energy and balance to improve and deepen in the cellar for many years.
