Billaud Simon Chablis Les Clos 2012 is a full-bodied Chardonnay white wine from the Grand Cru climat of Les Clos in the Chablis appellation. Founded in 1815, Domaine Billaud-Simon is renowned for producing some of the finest wines in Chablis, which have a particularly steely and mineral style. Today the estate is owned by the Faiveley family of famed Burgundian producer, Domaine Faiveley. This release is from Les Clos, the largest climat in the Chablis Grand Cru appellation. The wine offers rich, full-bodied notes of white peach, honey and citrus fruit, wrapped by a lively, mineral acidity.

The 2012 Chablis Les Clos is totally intriguing. Initially a bit reticent, the Clos only blossoms on the mid-palate and finish, where the wine's texture and breadth are most apparent. Silky, perfumed and polished throughout, the 2012 impresses for its fabulous balance and faithful expression of this great site.

The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos has a very well-defined and precise bouquet with yellow flowers, hints of tangerine and almond coming through with aeration. The palate is crisp and focused with a fine thread of acidity and a precise, tightly wound finish which, like the domaine’s fellow 2012 Grand Crus, needs another two or three years in bottle. - Neal Martin

Precise and citrusy, with a dusty/chalky overlay. Really mouthwatering on the finish, with pure, deep citrus in the middle. Long. (JH)
