Founded in 1948, Domaine Raveneau is arguably the finest producer of Chablis and is renowned for making incredibly complex wines from some of the greatest Premiers and Grand Crus vineyards in the region. Average production is often only around 3,000 cases and winemaking is both meticulous and traditional, with all grapes harvested by hand, fermentation in stainless steel and then maturation on lees in 7-8-year-old large oak feuillettes.
This is an excellent release of Grand Cru Blanchot, offering up deliciously complex notes of orchard fruit, citrus, blossom and seashell minerality. It is a beautifully harmonious wine with superb concentration, vibrant acidity and crystalline purity throughout. Just entering its drinking window, this should continue to flourish over the next two decades.

The 2016 Chablis Blanchots Grand Cru has a complex, quite beguiling bouquet with scents of dried honey, acacia, pressed flowers and orange blossom that unfold in the glass and attain quite a high level of intensity. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, taut and poised with hints of spice, orange rind and grapefruit towards the pixelated finish. What a great Blanchots from Isabelle Raveneau. Tempting in its youth for sure, but it will reward those with the nous to cellar for five years. Neal Martin1st August 2018
