From the steep slopes of the Blanchot grand cru vineyard in Chablis, Burgundy, the 2013 vintage of this Chardonnay reflects the precision and delicacy characteristic of the Raveneau estate. Known for its focus on terroir, François Raveneau champions organic viticulture, with the vineyard’s white clay soils playing a crucial role in crafting this wine’s identity. The 2013 growing season presented challenges, necessitating rigorous sorting to uphold the estate’s standards. Aged in old oak feuillètes, this wine exhibits notes of lime zest, honeyed acacia, and pronounced saline minerality. Its ethereal structure combines creamy texture with a vibrant, stony finish, marking a distinct example of Raveneau’s style.

Vinous
Bright, pale yellow. Nose currently a bit blocked by sulfur. Quite closed on the palate, with stone fruit and menthol flavors showing less depth and early sweetness than the Montée de Tonnerre. A bit less fine-grained too. This is tricky to taste now and needs time in bottle to expand.Stephen Tanzer1st August 2015
