Jean Paul & Benoît Droin boasts an illustrious wine-growing legacy spanning nearly 400 years. The estate`s reputation is built upon its expansive and impressive vineyard holdings, encompassing plots in five of the seven Chablis Grand Cru vineyards. This 2014 Grand Cru originates from their Blanchot parcel, a tiny 0.17-hectare plot. With delightful notes of wildflowers and mandarin, the wine exhibits a taut and precise texture, culminating in a mineral-laden finish. Its elegance and exceptional purity are nothing short of captivating.

Riper fruited than the Vaillons Premier Cru just tasted. In fact it tastes almost as if there is some sweetness here, counteracted by high acidity, but I assume this is just ripeness. Very intense and quite long. Rather sweet/sour at the moment and needing time to integrate. (JH)Julia Harding11th January 2016
Vinous
(the only grand cru chez Droin that's done entirely in stainless steel): Pale yellow-green. Very pure aromas of flowers, lime, chalk and spices (Droin notes that his parcel at the top of this grand cru has very chalky, powdery, white soil like that of Champagne). Not a powerful or weighty style but very pure and taut, conveying intense flavors of lime, crushed rock and crushed herbs. Finishes long and subtle, with a pungent whiplash of chalk. This will need time.Stephen Tanzer1st August 2015
