Situated on Pomerol’s prized plateau neighbouring Vieux Château Certan and La Fleur-Pétrus, Certan de May is another of the exceptional Moueix stable. The 2015 is a blend of 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. A hugely enjoyable wine with flavours of cherry, mulberry and plum accompanied by notes of dried thyme, cloves and eucalyptus.

The 2015 Certan de May is deep, powerful and imposing. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and mint are some of the many notes that fill out the wine's frame. Vertical in feel, with potent tannins, the 2015 needs time to fully come together. Even so, it does not appear to be an especially refined wine. The blend is 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.Antonio Galloni1st February 2018

Chateau Certan de May

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the prized central plateau of Pomerol, Château Certan de May is situated adjacent to two other world famous Right Bank properties - Vieux Château Certan and La Fleur-Pétrus. The vineyards are characterised by the mix of clay and gravel typical of the commune and the winemaking has a focus on concentration and power. Michel Rolland was consulting in the cellar until 2012 when Jean-Claude Berrouet took over.

The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon with vines averaging around 50 years of age. Wines are fermented for between four and six weeks before around 18 months ageing in oak barrels, around 40% of which are new.
