Certan de May 2015 is a Right Bank Bordeaux blend, predominantly Merlot, with elements of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This vintage exhibits a deep garnet colour with aromas of red cherries, plums and subtle herbal notes. The palate is structured, showcasing layers of ripe fruit alongside hints of thyme and spices. Certan de May is located in Pomerol and is renowned for its clay and gravel terroir, which contributes to the wine`s complexity.

The 2015 Certan de May is deep, powerful and imposing. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and mint are some of the many notes that fill out the wine's frame. Vertical in feel, with potent tannins, the 2015 needs time to fully come together. Even so, it does not appear to be an especially refined wine. The blend is 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.Antonio Galloni1st February 2018

A Jean-Pierre Moueix wine. 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.Mid crimson. Intense and meaty on the nose. Round and silky on the palate. Not a drama queen but really quite regal in floating above the hoi polloi. Chapeau! Notably persistent. (JR)

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the prized central plateau of Pomerol, Château Certan de May is situated adjacent to two other world famous Right Bank properties - Vieux Château Certan and La Fleur-Pétrus. The vineyards are characterised by the mix of clay and gravel typical of the commune and the winemaking has a focus on concentration and power. Michel Rolland was consulting in the cellar until 2012 when Jean-Claude Berrouet took over.

The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon with vines averaging around 50 years of age. Wines are fermented for between four and six weeks before around 18 months ageing in oak barrels, around 40% of which are new.
