Located on the western extremes of the Margaux appellation, Château Cantenac Brown owns 42 hectares of vineyards which include 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wines are typically fragrant and perfumed on the nose and medium-bodied and harmonious on the palate, packed with blackcurrants and a lingering finish. For those who like an approachable style of Bordeaux that is easy to drink.
78 Robert Parker
Although the 1995 reveals a good color, it has been consistently angular, austere, and too tannic. This is a lean, spartan style of claret that is likely to dry out before enough tannin melts away to reach a balance with the wine`s fruit. Anticipated maturity. 2000-2010. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
16.5 Jancis Robinson
Dark ruby. Some vigour and good development on the nose. Some welcome freshness too. Attractively juicy and mellow if slightly simple sugar and acid cocktail. Transparent and reasonably refreshing though the sweetness is a little marked. (JR)
