Château Cantenac Brown is a Third Growth estate from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification located in the Margaux appellation. The 1988 vintage in Bordeaux was generally very good, producing structured wines that benefited from cool, dry weather during the late harvest period. The wine itself is fully mature, exhibiting a spicy, medium-bodied profile with notes of earthy leather, mushroom and red and black fruits like cherry and currant. Cantenac Brown`s vineyard covers around 60.5 hectares on the Cantenac plateau, characterised by gravel, clay, and limestone soils.

The 1988 Cantenac-Brown is attenuated, with an elevated level of tannin. This spicy, medium-bodied wine is well-made, but it is not as impressive as I originally believed. Anticipated maturity. Now-2000. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
