Canon La Gaffeliere 2001 is a medium- to full-bodied, Merlot-based red wine from the St-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux. With viticultural history dating back to the 17th century, Château Canon-la-Gaffelière is a prestigious Saint-Émilion estate that has been owned by Count Stephan von Neipperg since 1985. The property is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B, as defined the official 2022 Saint-Émilion Classification. On the 2001, which was aged in 100% new oak. "Silky and charming, with perfumed juniper and tobacco details weaving around gently mulled cassis and black cherry flavours. The tobacco element blossoms through the finish, where some secondary notes emerge, but overall this stays very fresh." Wine Spectator, 2018

Vinous
The 2001 Canon-la-Gaffelière has a fresh nose of raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, cigar humidor, fireside hearth and light minty aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity, fresh and vibrant, and harmonious toward the finish, offering finer tannins than the 2000. This has aged beautifully and will continue to give pleasure. Cropped at 21hl/ha and aged in 85% new oak for 18 months.
