Château Canon is a Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘B’ classified estate situated in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Owned by luxury fashion house Chanel since 1996, the château has 18 hectares of vineyards planted on limestone-based soils. “The 2006 Château Canon has a vivid, kirsch and wild strawberry bouquet with touches of orange zest and marmalade, a touch of mushroom in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, sage and melted tar. There is wonderful structure here, superb salinity, completely fulfilling the promise it demonstrated out of bottle. Drink 2016-2030”. 93 points, Neal Martin, RobertParker.com, May 2016

Vinous
Red-ruby. Slightly inky black raspberry, blueberry and violet aromas perked up by violet and pepper. Suave and vinous on entry, then supple and on the cool side in the middle, with concentrated, moderately ripe flavors of dark fruits, minerals and bitter chocolate. Rather stylish Saint-Emilion, relying more on an edge of acidity than on its dusty tannins for shape and structure. This has put on weight since I tasted it in barrel. (A second bottle of equal quality showed more obvious tannins but avoided coming off as hard.)Stephen Tanzer1st May 2009
