Originally founded in the 18th century, Château Canon is a Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘B’ estate situated within the Saint-Émilion appellation. In 1996 the property was acquired by the famous fashion house Chanel, who completely revitalized the brand. This is their grand vin from the 1998 vintage, a blend composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The wine shows a lovely vibrant nose, with plenty of minerality and oyster shells. The palate is very well balanced with a velvety texture, polished tannins and focus on the finish.

Vinous
Medium ruby-red. Slightly high-toned, oaky aromas of plum, cherry, brown spices (cinnamon, mace) and shoe polish. Supple and rather understated, nicely sweetened by the oak. Finishes with suave, ripe tannins. Sweeter today than the '99.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2000
