Calon-Ségur 1962 is a mature-vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux. Calon-Ségur is a Third Growth wine estate with one of the greatest terroirs of Saint-Estèphe. In 2012, the property was sold to French insurance company Suravenir, which led to a modernisation of the wine-making facilities. This is a rare mature bottling of the grand vin from 1962 – a vintage inevitably overshadowed by the exceptionally good 1961, but which nevertheless produced an abundance of successful and long-lived Left Bank wines.

A Saint-Estèphe Superstar
Château Calon-Ségur is the most northerly of the Médoc Grand-Crus Classés and is renowned for wines with excellent depth of fruit and great longevity. One of the stars of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Calon-Ségur was categorised as a third growth in the famous 1855 classification of Bordeaux châteaux.
The estate produces two beautiful reds: the celebrated first wine in addition to a second, known as Marquis de Calon. The estate’s key varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which are used to make superb, consistently excellent Bordeaux that rewards long-term ageing.
