Calon-Segur is one of the stars of the Saint-Estephe appellation & was categorised as a third growth in the famous 1855 classification of Bordeaux chateaux. Calon Segur is a superb, consistently excellent Bordeaux which performs well regardless of the vintage & rewards long term ageing.
94 Vinous
The 2014 Calon Ségur has a fresh and vibrant nose, a bit backward and broody, but there is concentration here, just tightly coiled at the moment. There are touches of iodine and sea spray present. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannins, quite dense and fleshy, but there is enormous weight and backbone on the back end that I think will see this mature in style. Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year-On tasting and Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. Neal Martin19th March 2024

Medium to deep garnet in color, the 2014 Calon Segur gallops out with classic notes of cigar box, cassis, and graphite plus nuances of leather and dried leaves. The medium-bodied palate is tightly wound and minerally, with impressive tension and a chewy finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown5th March 2024
