Bunnahabhain 1991 24 Year Old Old Particular is a single cask single malt from the Islay region bottled by Douglas Laing after 24 years in a refill hogshead. This expression is described as a `shy islander`, starting with a light and perfumed nose before opening up into a much sweeter, oilier profile that coats the tongue. It requires time in the glass to reveal its depth, eventually showing notes of vanilla pudding and old banana that contrast with its initial maritime austerity. The nose features sweet orange juice and ginger, the palate brings a mix of honey and slightly bitter tannins, and the finish is a long, oily mixture of sage and herbs.

The Lighter Side of Islay
Often known as the "gateway malt" for those looking to explore the smoky malts of Islay, Bunnahabhain is more lightly peated than most other whiskies produced on the island. Situated on the north-eastern coast, the distillery name means "mouth of the river" in Gaelic.
Historically noted for a waxy, oily mouthfeel, low peat levels and a hint of sea spray, Bunnahabhain have since experimented with more heavily peated drams, in-keeping with the style of their island neighbours. The youngest age statement in the core range is 12 years old while limited edition cask finishes have won the distillery awards globally.
