Brunello di Montalcino Silvio Nardi 2006 is a Sangiovese-based wine from the renowned Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany. Produced by the esteemed Tenute Silvio Nardi, this wine adheres to the stringent DOCG regulations for Brunello. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested, with only the top 70% selected for vinification. The 2006 vintage benefits from a blend of fruit sourced from the Manachiara and Casale del Bosco estates, which feature varied terroirs that contribute to the wine`s complexity. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes maturation in a combination of traditional Slavonian oak barrels and smaller French tonneaux, enhancing its structure, before bottling.

Bright full red. Captivating nose combines plum, currant, sour cherry, dried flowers and nuts, plus a suggestion of white fruits. Then pure silk on the palate, with the terrific intensity and superb subtle sweetness of an outstanding bottle. Wonderfully spherical and mouthcoating sangiovese. The chewy, saline finish leaves the salivary glands vibrating. Tannins are in perfect harmony with the wine's fruit.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2011
