The Brunello di Montalcino Sesti 2020 is a pure Sangiovese made from Sesti`s 13 hectares of organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards located at the Castello di Argiano in the southern part of Montalcino. This location provides a relatively cool micro-climate, with the vines sloping toward Monte Amiata and benefiting from sea breezes. The wine is made in an elegant, subtly oaked style, showcasing a vibrant core of ripe red fruit complemented by notes of clove, Mediterranean herbs, brushy earth and fresh flowers. The palate is tangy and vibrant, supported by silky, ripe tannins and refreshing acidity, with a persistent finish.

A gorgeous burst of crushed raspberries gives way to rhubarb, wilted violet and cedary spice as the highly expressive 2020 Brunello di Montalcino comes to life in the glass. This is velvety smooth, supple and sapid, with depths of ripe red berry fruits complemented by hints of clove and cinnamon as well as a nip of sweet herbs toward the close. The 2020 displays fantastic depth and complexity, tapering off spicy and long yet wickedly fresh as a tinge of sour cherry fades over a bed of sweet tannins.Eric Guido1st November 2024

The Sesti 2020 Brunello di Montalcino, from the Castello di Argiano property on the southern side of the appellation, shows dried cherry aromas with baked plum and earthy sensations. This is a medium-bodied Brunello with a moderate finish. The acidity is present but not sharp, and the wine offers soft fruit tones throughout. I suggest a near or medium-term drinking window. This is a 15,000-bottle release.
