Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino 1999 is a medium-bodied Sangiovese red wine from the Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. Founded in Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the warm south of the Montalcino appellation in 1989, Poggio di Sotto has become a byword for benchmark Brunello di Montalcino wines made with a striking combination of concentration and clarity. Earlier vintages may have tended towards reticence when young, but with enough age, these wines become gloriously expressive. On the 1999. "Leather, tannery, fruit-forward but lighter in colour and consistency that the other wines in its flight. There are fine-tuned notes of elegance in the form of drying minerality and rose tea sweetness. Soft and silky in the mouth with a nice, fresh finale." Wine Enthusiast, 2006

- Good full medium red-ruby. Raspberry, truffle and nuts on the nose. Sweet, fat and pliant; at once full and elegant in the mouth. Ripe flavors of currant, strawberry, tobacco and truffle. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a lingering note of tobacco.
