Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino Madonna del Piano Riserva 2006 is a full-bodied Sangiovese red wine from the Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. The highly esteemed Valdicava is run by winemaker Attilio Pagli and agronomist Andrea Paoletti, each of whom contributes a wealth of knowledge to create benchmark Brunello di Montalcino wines. The relatively high altitude of the estate`s vineyards, around 300m means a longer hang time, and in turn a longer ripening period, for the grapes, ensuring the finesse and complexity of flavour which are the estate`s hallmark. "I tasted this about a year ago at the winery and I was blown away. This time I tasted it in a blind tasting in Tuscany and it stood above the rest. Amazing aromas of blueberries and flowers, with black truffles and pie. Foie gras, mushrooms and white truffles too. Powerful, with great depth of gorgeous fruit and ultra-fine tannins. It fills your mouth with fruit and ripe tannins. Complex and long. A breathtaking wine. Truly glorious." 100 points, James Suckling, 2012

Valdicava’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano was another wine that appealed to the audience. And how could it not? A rich, dark, powerful wine, the 2006 showed all of its depth and pure muscle in a stunning display of class. It was utterly magnificent.
