Brunello di Montalcino Lisini 1997 is a robust expression of Sangiovese from the Lisini estate, located in the Montalcino region of Tuscany. The 1997 vintage reflects the warm growing season, leading to concentrated fruit profiles and structured tannins that have mellowed over time. Aromas of leather, dried fruit, and balsamic notes emerge alongside earthy undertones as the wine ages. The Lisini family has been winemaking since the late 19th century, with a focus on traditional methods, producing wines that embody the unique characteristics of their terroir.

The estate's 1997 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a perfumed nose followed by complex nuances of red cherries, tobacco, cocoa and spices that develop in the glass. It offers great length and balance along with a resonating note of alcoholic warmth on the finish. Delicate in its personality yet supported by notable structure, it comes across as incredibly youthful considering it is nearly a decade old. Readers lucky enough to own this wine should feel no rush to drink this, as it likely has another 15 years of prime drinking ahead of it. Anticipated maturityAntonio Galloni1st August 2006

Healthy crimson, but not especially deep. Fully ripe fruit and very winning. Good balance. Bonfires? Not excessive impact. Great spread of flavours. Already drinkable. Perhaps a little stingy. For the long term. Slight short. (JR)
