Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Il Poggione has achieved remarkable results with its 2011 Brunello di Montalcino. The wine showcases a soft and supple character, accompanied by a velvety and seamless texture. It exudes aromas of dark berries, black cherries, spice, leather, and tobacco. Despite its sunny disposition, the wine never loses its vibrancy or becomes overly dense. In fact, it boasts a precise and firm structure, lending it stature and strength. Undoubtedly, this is one of our preferred Brunellos from the exceptional 2011 vintage.

A dark, powerful wine, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino offers notable depth and intensity. Il Poggione's 2011 is one of the richest, most powerful wines of the year. Black cherry, plum, lavender, cloves and new leather are some of the first nuances that open up. With time in the glass, the 2011 becomes more lifted, as brighter red cherry and raspberry-infused flavors gradually release. This is a rare 2011 that demands at least a good few years in the cellar. In 2011, Il Poggione did not bottle a Riserva. All the juice went into the straight Brunello.Antonio Galloni1st February 2016

The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino represents a smaller harvest. Some 130,000 bottles were produced, which is 80,000 bottles less than average. In fact, Il Poggione made more Rosso di Montalcino and IGT compared to their flagship Brunello. No Riserva was produced in 2011. One of the reasons for the reduced production was the very warm growing season that mandated severe fruit selection. In my opinion, Il Poggione has done a fine job with the fruit they dedicated to this wine. This is a wine of ripe fruitiness and dark richness. There is a hint of reduction that puts the proverbial breaks on the wine's intensity. Il Poggione is happiest with the 2012 and 2015 vintages and less so with 2013.Monica Larner31st October 2017

An Historic Tuscan Estate

Il Poggione’s stellar reputation for producing fine, long-aged Brunellos is down to the skilled and highly experienced winemakers who have managed the winery cellars: Pierluigi Talenti from 1958 until his death in 1999, ably followed by Fabrizio Bindocci (also the president of the wine consortium Brunello di Montalcino DOCG) and, from 2005, Fabrizio’s son Alessandro.

In the cellar, traditional winemaking prevails, with the use of a submerged cap (the grape solids which rise to the surface of the vats during fermentation) and frequent pumpovers preferred to maximise extraction and ageing conducted in large French oak casks. The standard Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino is matured in cask for three years before a further period of bottle age before release. The estate’s Riserva bottling, which is only made in exceptionally good vintages, spends an additional year in cask.
