Brunello di Montalcino Fuligni 2010 is a Sangiovese red wine produced by the Fuligni family in the northern sector of Montalcino, Italy. This wine originates from vines situated 380 to 450 metres above sea level, benefitting from cooler microclimates and galestro-rich soils. Aged for three years in a combination of Slavonian oak casks and smaller tonneaux, it reveals a brilliant ruby colour and a multifaceted nose of black cherries, violets, leather and a hint of balsamic. The palate is impeccably balanced, exhibiting refined tannins and a core of succulent red fruit punctuated by mineral depth.

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is all about balance. Remarkably seamless for a young Brunello, the 2010 is also quite expressive and open at this stage, which is one of the signatures of the vintage. Bright red stone fruits, wild flowers and cinnamon are all given an extra kick of intensity and focus from the high acidity of the year. This is a terrific showing from Fuligni.Antonio Galloni1st February 2015

Fuligni`s 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a deeply floral wine with bright aromas of pressed violets and rose. There`s isn`t much fruit here and that surprised me greatly, given the immediate and forthcoming nature of the vintage. In fact, the wine feels a bit shut down and less expressive than expected. Balsam herb, licorice and chopped mint round off the finish. My sample may be showing subtle signs of reduction. - Monica Larner

Maturing ruby with orange tinges. Compact and minerally and firmly closed on the fruit. Same embryonic impression on the palate with supple, ripe fruit and racy acidity on the finish. Bags of ripe, grainy tannins. Amazing length and bite, and really needs age. (WS)
