Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Tasting note from the team at Bruichladdich -

Aroma – An amazing array of notes. Blood orange, nectarines, banana bread, desiccated coconut, vanilla custard, then more floral and nutty tones, geranium, marzipan, walnut, heather honey.

Taste – Tremendous presence on the palate, the texture is wondrously sof and syrupy. The short ACE in the wine casks has given a warm, nutmeg hint and a layer of fruity notes, raspberry, blackcurrant jam and ripe plum, all perfectly balanced by years in American oak – cinder toffee, lemon meringue and coconut – bounty bar sweet. It opens continually to reveal layer upon layer of complexity.

Finish – Long and gentle, the oak influence is strong with waves of soft vanilla wafer, toffee and sandalwood. Then lemon barley sugars, a hint of salted caramel and apricot syrup.

Islay's Rugged West Coast

Built in 1881, Bruichladdich passed from owner to owner over the next 80 years, eventually closing their on-site maltings in the early 1960s. Demand for this distinctly fruity Islay malt was so great during the 1970s that additional stills were added to allow for an increase in capacity. Whyte and Mackay acquired Bruichladdich in 1993, but shut down production in the mid-1990s, with Murray McDavid taking over operations in the year 2000. The 15 years thereafter saw a golden era for the distillery as many superb older whiskies were assessed by the new owners and bottled as superb limited edition single casks. The core range was reimagined and two new labels were added that allowed for more heavily peated expressions - Octomore and Port Charlotte.

Bruichladdich run two wash stills and two spirit stills, producing around 1.5 millions litres a year and a number of local Lochs provide the water required for the mash, cooling and bottling. Notably, Bruichladdich maintain and use an array of vintage equipment, including a large wooden mash tun and an adjustment Lomond still, which is used in the production of the distillery's Botanist gin.
