Brora 40 Year Old 1972 is an extraordinarily rare and highly aged Highland single malt from a landmark year. At four decades of age, this spirit has reached a level of extraordinary concentration and aromatic complexity. The nose is profound, featuring layers of dark cocoa, aged leather, tobacco and deep vanilla bean. On the palate, the whisky is dense and multi-layered, with a seamless texture that coats the mouth. Despite its significant age, it maintains a vibrant character where the intense oak tannins are perfectly integrated with the sweet, concentrated spirit. It is an authoritative and long-lived malt that finishes with extraordinary persistence and a sophisticated note of cedar and spice.

Brora
An Elusive Highlander
Originally known as Clynelish, Brora was established in the early 1800s by the Duke of Sutherland. The distillery was popular with blenders to the point where a second site was required to meet demand (still in operational as Clynelish). The original distillery was closed in the late 1960s and reopened in the 1970s, producing a range of malts - from heavily peated to very lightly peated.
Having long been one of the most popular closed distilleries for collectors and drinkers, Brora is now being refurbished and reopened by the current owners Diageo. The first bottlings are expected in the mid to late 2020s - the whisky world waits with baited breath!
