Château Branaire-Ducru 1995 is a Fourth Growth Bordeaux red wine from the Saint-Julien appellation. At nearly three decades old, this vintage reveals a dark ruby hue with a complex aromatic profile. Expect notes of cedar, tobacco and leather juxtaposed with vibrant red fruit and a hint of spice. The palate exhibits a silky texture and well-defined core, leading to a harmonious finish typical of mature Bordeaux.

The 1995 Branaire-Ducru has a generous bouquet that might be a tad riper than the 1996 with blackberry, dark plum, a touch of sage and tobacco all with fine delineation. The palate is more forward than the 1996, a little ripe but I prefer the structure on the 1995. A subtle saline touch on the entry, dusky red-berried fruit with cedar and a touch of tobacco on the finish. Lovely. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at a vertical in London. Elegant, Complex and Balance

Founded in 1680 by Jean-Baptiste Braneyre, 4ème Cru Classé estate Château Branaire Ducru currently spans 60ha and is situated on the opposite side of the road from Château Beychevelle in the south of the St-Julien appellation. Renowned for producing pure and classic St-Julien, which is elegant, supple and well-balanced.

The estate is planted with predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, together with smaller amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc and is used to produce both the historic first wine in addition to a second wine, Duluc de Branaire-Ducru. These are reds that are perfect for aging, opening up with time in bottle and offering superb freshness and purity.
