Aged for 25 years in a single refill hogshead, this expression was distilled in 1989 and bottled by Douglas Laing in 2014. Braes Of Glenlivet is a Speyside single malt that embodies the distillery`s lighter house style. The whisky presents notes of honeyed malt and vanilla, accompanied by orchard fruits. The extended maturation imparts a refined aromatic profile and a smooth mouthfeel. At natural cask strength, it showcases the character of the 1989 vintage with a balance of sweetness and a gentle spiciness. The finish, characterised by citrus peel and floral elements, offers complexity.

Braeval

An Elevated Speysider

Originally known as Braes of Glenlivet, Braeval distillery nestles within Livet glen in the south of Speyside and sources its water from the Pitilie Burn. It's nearby to the more famous Glenlivet distillery and changed its name to avoid confusion. Standing at 350m elevation, Braeval is the highest distillery in Scotland.

Founded as one of the first wholly automated distilleries in Scotland in 1973, Braeval uses six long-necked stills with upward sloping lyne arms, which help to create its signature light, floral style of Speyside single malt.

This Chivas-owned distillery does not release any of its own single malts (most Braeval whisky goes into the blends such as Chivas Regal), though rare independent bottlings do attract the interest of collectors.
