Bowmore 36 Year Old Cask 6090 Duncan Taylor 1969 is an Islay single malt distilled in 1969 and matured for over three decades in a single Sherry cask. This release from the Rare Auld series represents the pinnacle of 1960s Islay production where peat smoke was often subordinate to intense tropical fruit esters. The spirit delivers a sophisticated array of mango, guava and passion fruit alongside a gentle coastal salinity. Bottled at 42.1% ABV, it retains a silken texture with layers of old leather, tobacco and polished oak. The finish is exceptionally long, evolving from sweet fruit to a delicate, wispy peat smoke. This vintage illustrates the legendary fruit-forward profile that has made Bowmore from this decade one of the most collectible whiskies in the world.

Bowmore is one of the oldest distilleries on Islay and the first on the island to receive a license. Officially founded in 1779 by local merchant David Simpson, it's likely that illicit distilling had been taking place for some years on the same site. The distillery had a number of different owners over the years, passing to Stanley Morrison in the mid 60s before being purchased by Beam Suntory in 1994.
The distillery has bottled some of the world's most desirable single malts over the years including the widely acclaimed White, Black and Gold Bowmore editions. Across the range, the spirit is characterised by a rich smoky character with hints of tropical fruit and ocean spray.
