Château Bourgneuf is located in the midst of the Grand Crus vineyards on the western side of Pomerol and is generally exceptionally consistent in quality with good concentration and ageing potential. The 2011 is ripe and pretty with chewy tannins and hints of toasted oak. Perfect to drink now with roasted rib of beef.
88 Vinous
The 2011 Bourgneuf has a tightly-wound bouquet with blackberry, briary, sous-bois and cigar box aromas that gradually unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, more cohesion and substance than its peers with fine balance on the finish. This is drinking perfectly now. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.Neal Martin1st April 2022
Jancis Robinson
The charmless 2011 Bourgneuf displays hints of wet dog, aged beef, plum sauce, black currants and cherries. While adequate, it lacks finesse and appeal. Drink it over the next decade.Robert Parker26th April 2012
