Bourgneuf 2010 is a full-bodied Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, Château Bourgneuf has been in the ownership of the Vayron family since 1821. The vineyards, spanning approximately nine hectares, combine diverse soil types, including pure clay, clay and sand, and gravel. The 2010 grand vin is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet-Franc. "Tense and firmly tannic, this wine is still very young. Berry and black currant fruit are still dominated by a dry character. The wine will take time toward its slow maturity. "Wine Enthusiast, 2013

Vinous
Deep purple-tinged ruby. Telltale flamboyant Bourgneuf aromas of red cherry, dark plum, fig, coriander and Oriental spices. Enters fresh, then turns sweet and dense in the middle, showing very good depth to the red and black fruit flavors. An element of stony minerality adds further complexity on the long, creamy finish. An excellent Bourgneuf: if the peppery tannins didn't turn just a bit tough at the back, I would have scored this even higher.Ian d'Agata1st May 2011
