Founded in Beaune in 1880, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy`s leading wine producers, with vineyard holdings in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, as well as in Oregon, USA. Today, the Domaine is led by the 4th generation of the family and produces wines from nearly 90 different appellations. This release comes from Bonnes-Mares, the prestigious Grand Cru site where Joseph Drouhin owns a 0.23-hectare plot. The 2006 is in a great spot right now, boasting notes of plums and dark berries, punctuated by earthy and floral elements.

Vinous
Pale red. Perfumed, high-pitched nose hints at spices and Szechuan peppercorn; purer than the Amoureuses. Juicy, spicy and light on its feet, with a sneaky intensity to its peppery flavors. Tightly wound but fine-grained. Finishes with granular tannins that will require at least a few years of cellaring to mellow out.
