Founded in Beaune in 1880, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy`s leading wine producers, with vineyard holdings in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, as well as in Oregon, USA. Today, the Domaine is led by the 4th generation of the family and produces wines from nearly 90 different appellations. This release comes from Bonnes-Mares, the prestigious Grand Cru where Joseph Drouhin owns a 0.23-hectare plot. The 2001 vintage is showing lovely notes of truffles and musk, and a remarkable balance between structure and texture.

Vinous
Medium red. Sweetly oaky aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, tobacco and fresh herbs. Dense, fat and lush, with vibrant flavors of red fruits, minerals, wild herbs and earthy underbrush. Not quite as silky-sweet as Drouhin's Musigny, but finishes very long and aromatic, with firm but suave tannins.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2004
