Founded in 1859, Louis Jadot is one of the leading wine producers in Burgundy, operating both as a grower and négociant. This release is the 2019 vintage of Jadot’s Bonnes-Mares, which is planted entirely to Pinot Noir. The grapes for this cuvée are destemmed and fermented in vats between 3 and 4 weeks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels produced by the maison’s cooperage Cadus. Compared to le Musigny, Bonnes-Mares is more robust, yet still extremely elegant.
Vinous
The 2019 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a floral bouquet of black and blueberry fruit infused with crushed violet and iris petal. This is completely destemmed, so it does not convey the same amplitude. The palate is medium-bodied, with light Earl Grey and ash notes tincturing the black fruit. Fine structure and focus here. Light on its feet toward the long, sustained finish. This is a superb Bonnes-Mares.

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

From vineyard to bottle, sustainability is a core part of their approach. Since 2019, all Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards have the High Environmental Value level 3 certification. This is a voluntary approach which aims to identify and promote particularly environmentally-friendly practices applied by farmers. It covers biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategy, management of fertiliser use and management of water.
