Founded in 1859, Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociant houses in Burgundy. Its vast portfolio offers over 220 different wines from key vineyards in Chablis, the Côte d’Or, Côte Chalonnaise, the Maconnais and Beaujolais. This release comes from the prestigious Bonnes-Mares, a Grand Cru vineyard in the Côte de Nuits where Jadot owns a tiny 0.27-hectare parcel. This release is from the 2001 vintage, a year when the Côte de Nuits benefited not only from finer weather during the harvest but from less humid conditions in September.

Good deep red. Briary black fruits, chocolate and pepper on the nose; very Bonnes-Mares. Fat, ripe and mouthfilling; large-scaled without being especially sweet. Lively notes of dark berries, minerals and fresh herbs carry through on the firm, youthful finish. Needs seven or eight years of aging.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2004

Gorgeous aromas of spiced red cherries can be found in the nose of the 2001 Bonnes Mares. Medium-bodied, pure, and well-balanced, this silky-textured wine boasts a dark cherry and black raspberry-filled flavor profile. It is well-concentrated, ripe, and expressive. Projected maturity: now-2012.
