Bonnes-Mares Domaine Dujac 2006 in magnum presents a deep ruby hue, revealing a complex profile upon inspection. The nose unveils layers of earthy minerality, black cherry and nuanced herbs, intermingled with hints of tobacco. On the palate, the wine displays a structured integrity, showcasing firm tannins and a precise acidity that guides the mid-palate experience. The prolonged finish underscores a reserved elegance, typical of its age yet retaining a youthful vitality. A sought-after bottling from a legendary Burgundy producer.

(two of the seven barrels were new) Good full, deep red. Pungent minerality, pepper and blueberry on the nose. Then sweet and bright in the mouth, with superb energy and thrust in the middle palate. This tactile and very long wine turns uncompromisingly dry on the brooding, palate-saturating finish. Very backward wine. This cuvee is now roughly a 50/50 blend of fruit from light and dark soils with the addition of vines on white soil from the Thomas-Moillard purchase, notes Seysses, adding that this has pushed us more in a Roumier direction.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2009

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
