One of Burgundy’s thirty-three grand cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares covers some 15 hectares, spread over the communes of Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. It is one of the region’s most fragmented grand crus, with approximately 19 growers producing wine from this appellation. The prestigious Domaine Dujac owns 0.59 hectares here, with an altitude that ranges from 278 to 296 meters. This 2011 vintage shows focus, balance and excellent structure. Drinking well now.

Bright red. Complex, high-pitched aroma of red fruits, flowers and mocha, plus a touch of white pepper. Lovely floral lift to the intense, sharply delineated flavors of red raspberry and spices. Youthfully tight today but the very long, vibrant finish displays captivating rising perfume. This should unfold slowly over the next decade.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2014

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
