Based in Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaine Ramonet has been passed through successive generations of the Ramonet family, gradually cementing a reputation as one of the greatest producers of white wine anywhere in the world. Current owners and winemakers, Noël and Jean-Claude have been deeply involved in the company since 1983 and have always sought to be respectful to the traditions and styles laid down by their grandfather and domaine founder, Pierre. The 1998 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet is now nearing full maturity and exudes delicious notes of honey-drizzled stone fruits, waxy citrus, toasted nuts and crushed minerals.

Vinous
Subtle but superripe aromas of lemon, lime, pear, roasted nuts, vanilla, coconut and mint, plus a suggestion of exotic spices. Rich, dense, chewy and minerally in the mouth; sweeter, broader and more forward than Ramonet's Batard today, but without that wine's authoritative grip. Strong flavors of pear, lime and mint, plus a light sulfide note. Finishes long and youthful, with ripe lemony acidity. Delicious now, but built to age; this held up for days in the recorked bottle.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2000
