Based in Puligny-Montrachet, Paul Pernot is a family-owned estate known for producing classic Burgundy wines with pristine fruit. Paul Pernot established the Domaine in 1959 with approximately 10 hectares, most of which had been in the family for many generations. This release is their Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from 2001, a rather successful vintage for white Burgundy.
91 Vinous
(from two parcels of vines totaling .37 ha, with ages of 10 and 37 years). As one would expect given the purity of the Pernot style, this offers the classic aromatic Bienvenues profile of intense honeysuckle and fresh white flower fruit aromas followed by round, intense, delicious yet entirely serious flavors of excellent intensity and superb length. I very much like this as is a picture perfect example of understated and refined, elegance.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2003

A bit stinky on the nose, and definitely not the weight that a Grand Cru should have. Very disappointing. (JR)Jancis Robinson31st January 2003
