Domaine Jacques Carillon’s Grand Cru vines are especially well-protected in a microclimate and their average age is 48 years old. The 2018 Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet has an exotic sea breeze aroma. The palate is focused and well-balanced, with a weighty mouthfeel. There is a permeating stream of acidity towards the end, carrying notes of orange peel and passion fruit. Already tasting very well now but will continue to evolve in the cellar.

The 2018 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has quite a perfumed bouquet with touches of honeysuckle and quince, fine delineation, maybe just missing a bit of mineralité. The palate is well balanced with quite a sappy entry, fine depth and concentration, tangy orange peel and quince once more. It just misses a little mineralité on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. Neal Martin22nd November 2022
