Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet 2022 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru vineyard of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Leflaive is quite simply the most illustrious address in Puligny-Montrachet. Leflaive`s Grands Crus can be powerful yet austere when young and often require 10 to 15 years of ageing to show their true colours. The domaine has been certified biodynamic since 1997. With an area of just 3.68ha, Bienvenues is in fact the second smallest Grand Cru in Burgundy. The vineyard enjoys an ideal south-easterly aspect which encourages optimum ripening of the Chardonnay grapes. This, combined with the vineyard’s thin, rocky clay-limestone soil – very similar to that of Le Montrachet but just a little heavier – produces rich, powerful Chardonnays which yet retain good acidity and express a fine minerality. The best of them can mature well for two decades or more.

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
