Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet Domaine Leflaive 2002 is a full-bodied Grand Cru Chardonnay from one of Burgundy`s prestigious producers. Domaine Leflaive, located in Puligny-Montrachet, has been a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture since 1997. The 2002 vintage exhibits the hallmarks of this Grand Cru with its rich, concentrated flavours reminiscent of citrus zest and stone fruit, alongside whispers of herbal notes.

- The most interesting of the wines in our first flight was the 2002 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet, which remained bright, layered and beautifully focused throughout the course of the evening. The Leflaive was even better when I came back to it at the end of the evening. Although still young, it embodied all of the qualities Burgundy lovers seek in age worthy whites. I loved it.

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
