Beychevelle 1994 is a red Bordeaux crafted from a classic Bordeaux Blend, primarily featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. This vintage showcases a blend of ripe fruit and subtle herbal notes, with tannins that reflect the hallmark structure of the region. Beychevelle, a historic producer in the St-Julien appellation, is known for its distinctive ship emblem, which dates back to the 17th century and signifies its maritime heritage. An intriguing choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The 1994 Beychevelle is one of the surprise packages of this almost forgotten vintage. It has a light bouquet with blackberry, iodine and cedar scents—simple but effective. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy texture and fine acidity. There is an almost pastille-like purity to this Saint-Julien, pretty and winsome, plus it gains depth with aeration. Who knew? It's worth seeking out. Tasted at the château.
