Located in the far south of the St-Julien appellation, Château Beychevelle is an elegant estate, with views down to the Gironde estuary. The wine is typically a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and it is matured in oak barrels (50-60% new) for 18 months. The 2015 vintage is an excellent wine, displaying firm tannins and a well-balanced structure, with ripe blackcurrants, sloe berries and damson.

The 2015 Beychevelle was matured in 50% new oak. This showing is consistent with previous tastings: fine tannins, quite sapid on the mid-palate with a grainy texture. The finish is tinged with black olive. Neal Martin17th June 2025

Bright crimson. Aromatic rather than concentrated. Racy and sinewy. Lots of charm and pzazz without being in the least heavy. Bravo! (JR)
