Beychevelle 1995 is a classic Red Bordeaux, showcasing the region`s distinctive terroir. Produced in the esteemed Saint-Julien appellation, this wine combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. The blend remains undisclosed but typically features a harmonious mix of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Beychevelle, established in the 17th century, is known for its historical ties to the sailing ships that passed by its estate. This vintage presents a mature profile with nuanced complexities that reflect its age and heritage.
89 Vinous
The 1995 Beychevelle has never been one of my favorite vintages, inferior to the 2005 or 2015 that I juxtaposed at the table. Dark berry fruit, quite ferrous, is evidence of a little Brettanomyces. The palate is powerful and muscular, which is not really the Beychevelle style, and quite spicy towards the finish. Will it improve with time? I doubt it.
17 Jancis Robinson
Evolution and shading on the rim. Savoury and animal on the nose. More lift than most. Racy and lively and charming. Only medium weight but very refreshing. (JR)
